Pack 1592 Families,

Our Pack will be joining other Scouts as part of a long standing annual tradition of honoring service men and women by planting flags in the days ahead of Veterans Day.

Join us Wednesday Nov 6th at 4:00pm at the Roseville Cemetery located next to Roseville High School at 421 Berry St. We are joining in the efforts with other scouts as many hands make light work.

What to bring and what to Expect:

  • We gather with other groups participating in the event for a brief instruction and distribution of tools.
  • We break into small teams and work our way across the cemetery planting flags at the grave sites of all service members.
  • The graves to be decorated are marked with paint on the grass, but examining the headstones and plaques to ensure none are missed is helpful.
  • The rebar digging tools (basically a pointy piece of metal) are heavy and are claimed quickly. Large, long screwdrivers work well for digging holes for the flags so bring one if you have one. Thankfully the weather probably has moistened the ground and this won’t be an issue.
  • A stapler or something to help secure flags that come loose from their stick may be helpful as well.
  • Scouts should wear their Class A Uniforms if possible.
  • We almost always finish early when there is a large turnout. If you show up after the start time, it is possible we will already be finished. We almost never take the full two hours due to large turnout and eager participants.

No signup is needed, if you want to participate, just show up! Pack Committee Chair Greg Hill is organizing our pack’s participation in the event, if you don’t see him at the event, please let your den leader know you attended so you can get proper credit for any Community Service sign-offs.
