Register to be a Leader

Thank you for volunteering to be an adult Leader in Pack 1592. It’s because of you that we can create wonderful experiences and lifelong memories for our scouts.

The instructions below have been compiled to make registration as easy as possible. Most elements of the process are online and can be done from home.

These steps are only to register as a leader for a roll on the Pack Committee or as a Den Leader. If you are looking to volunteer in a more limited capacity, please connect with any of our leaders by email or at a pack meeting! 

STEP 1: Create a My Scouting account

Go to https://my.scouting.org
Select the CREATE ACCOUNT button (on the left side of page)
Follow the instructions to create an account

STEP 2: Apply to be an Adult Volunteer with Boy Scouts of America

Go to http://beascount.scouting.org
Enter ZIP CODE = 95747
Make sure Cub Scouts is selected
Select the Find a Unit button
Look for Pack 1592 Kiwanis Club of Roseville
Select Apply Now
Choose Adult Volunteers and select Start
Say YES when asked if you have a my.Scouting account
Login with your my.Scouting account
Fill out application and make payment (SAVE YOUR RECEIPT!)

STEP 3. Complete Youth Protection Training

Go to https://my.scouting.org
Login using your login/password
Select the MY TRAINING box
Take the Youth Protection Training course. This will take approximately 2 hours.
Make sure to PRINT CERTIFICATE (save as PDF)
Login into SCOUTING.ORG again the next day and make sure when you go to MY TRAINING it says ACTIVE in GREEN lettering
Note that Youth Protection Training must be retaken every 2 years.

STEP 4: Complete California AB 506 Mandatory Reporting Training & Get Live Scanned

Go to https://www.gec-bsa.org/training
Find the section on California AB-506
Select the TAKE TRAINING button to complete the Mandatory Reporting Training
Follow the process outlined
Take the training (make sure to download and save your certificate)
Upload your certificate
Upload your consent to be background checked
Follow the instructions to complete a LIVE SCAN Background check and get Fingerprinted (SAVE YOUR RECEIPT)

STEP 5: Approval and Notification

Boy Scouts of America will perform a background check based on the information provided in your application. You should receive a notification in email when the background check has been successfully completed.

Please notify the Pack Committee Chair when you have submitted your adult application. The Pack committee chair will receive an automated notification in email that you have applied, but sometimes this can be missed. The Pack committee chair and the Chartered Organization representative will approve your application.
